19th July 2006 - Week 4 Tournament
After beating Hit and Run 4-3, Jammy Dodgers were in full swing going into the second match against Retail Assassins, who had 3 rookies in their 7-player squad. The Dodgers quickly established a 4-0 winning margin. The 5th game was 3-3 when Retail Assassins captain Nick Pinnock, with 2 hits, and Scott Ramsey took out their opponents to win 3-0. Jammy Dodgers fired off the last games 4-0 and 6-0 to win the match by 6 games to 1.
The inexperience in the Retail Assassins squad showed up even more in the final match of the evening. Seasoned campaigner Christina Pinnock’s 2 hits and 1 catch, for the Assassins, were not enough to stop Hit and Run finishing the night with an emphatic 7-0 victory.

7th June 2006
One of the league’s new teams was unable to make it this week, so we played a 3-game series against Retail Assassin’s old adversary, Hit and Run. We had 2 new players, Chris Maddams and Stacey Gibbs and this week saw the welcome return from injury of Sarah and Paul. Unfortunately, Paul was still not fully match fit and was unable to run, but still played in over half of the games. Hit and Run had a smaller squad than usual, but fielded an all-male team this week, that included all of their best throwers.
Retail Assassins lost the first 4 games of the match 0-5, 0-4, 0-4 and 2-3, before rallying to win 2 of the last 3, losing the initial match 2-5. The second match followed a similar pattern. The girls were very enthusiastic and had plenty of playing time, the team fielded 4 girls and 2 guys in 3 of the 7 games, in the second match. We lost this one 2-5 as well.
The third match was a much tighter affair. Two games ended as 3-3 draws as Hit and Run got the better of us again, winning by 2 games to 3. Despite the defeats we had a really great time and new man Chris showed he had a strong throw that will be a great benefit to the team.

12th July 2006 - Week Three Tournament
|
|
|
|
|
|
The first match was between Hit and Run and Jammy Dodgers. Hit and Run came out on top. After taking a 3 games to 0 lead, Hit and Run went down in the next two games. Then their throwing skills and catching skills saw them home 5-0 and 4-0.
Jammy Dodgers and Retail Assassins contested the second match of the evening. The match was won by Jammy Dodgers, who stepped up a gear after their initial defeat and a fine throwing display saw them up two games to nil, in double-quick time. Retail Assassins came back to make it 2-1, but they could not sustain the come back and lost the next 3, before taking the last game 5-0.
Hit and Run took a winning 4-0 lead in third match, despite some excellent survival skills from Sarah Keyte and Christina Pinnock, who were both last player standing for Retail Assassins in 2 games each. The Assassins took 2 of the last 3 games to keep the scoreline respectable.

31st May 2006
With the league still trying to recruit new teams, Retail Assassins played one friendly match against Hit and Run this week. We had three new players in our 6-player team on the night, Shaun Gray, Rob Andrew and Owen Toseland.
After going down 0-5 and 0-4 in the first 2 games we got our act together a little too late in the day. We managed 2 wins from the last 5 games to keep the match result down to a 2-5 defeat. New recruit, Shaun Gray was the team’s man of the match with at least two successful attempts in each game.

24th May 2006
This week was more of a fun night. Retail Assassins and Hit and Run mixed players together for a warm up game before playing a friendly match. The match was played in the league format of seven x 2-minute games. Most of the games were close, and with the match at 3-3, and Hit and Run with 4 players on court to the Retail Assassin’s 2 survivors, Christina Pinnock hit a hot streak, throwing out three opponents and then catching an attempt from Hit and Run’s last man.
Result: a 4-3 win for Retail Assassins.

5th July 2006 - Week Two Tournament
Hit and Run came out champions once again, although they were pushed much harder in the second week’s games
The night’s first match saw Hit and Run trounce Jammy Dodgers 6 - 1. Hit and Run took a 2 games to 0 lead, before Jammy Dodgers took a game off them 3-0 and then stretched Hit and Run to the full 2 minutes in the 4th game. Hit and Run then finished off the match 4-0, 4-0 and 1-0.
Match two saw the Retail Assassins never really get going against Jammy Dodgers. The match was a 7-0 whitewash to Jammy Dodgers, who blasted out their opponents in double-quick time. This was despite the excellent survival skills of Stacey Gibbs, who was the last player in for Retail Assassins in 5 of the seven games.
The final match of the evening saw old adversaries Hit and Run and Retail Assassins go head to head. Retail Assassins took the first game 5-0, Hit and Run replied with a 5-0 game, Retail Assassins came back with a 4-0 win, and then Hit and Run got into top gear, winning the last 4 games 3-0, 3-0, 4-0 and 3-0, to see them home. The final match score 5-2 to Hit and Run.

17th May 2006
Week 2 was played as a 3-team tournament. Each match was 5 two-minute games.
Our first match was against Big Hit & Run. We won the first game easily 4-2, before losing 2 in a row. The 4th game was drawn 3-3. This meant we had to win the 5th game to get a draw. With just a few seconds to go and both teams with 2 players left on court, Christina Pinnock threw a successful hit on one of their guys to give Retail Assassins a 2-1 win and save us from defeat: Result: 2-2.
The second Match of the night saw Big Hit & Run beat H&R Team G 4-1.
Retail Assassins second match did not go so well. After starting with a 4-1 win over Team G in the first game, we went down in the next 4. Out-gunned by their 2 big hitters Retail Assassins Man of the Match, Paul Marriott, was left in alone against 4 opponents for over a minute and we lost our second match 4-1. Unfortunately, Paul Marriott suffered a strained hamstring from his exertions on the night and will be out of action for 3-4 weeks.

28th June 2006 - Week One Tournament
The first match of the night saw Hit and Run lose their first game 5-0 to Jammy Dodgers before they got into gear. They wiped out their opponents, before the two minutes were up, in the next 6 games.
The second match saw Hit and Run in devastating form once again. They reeled off 7 straight games, although Retail Assassins stretched them to the full 2 minutes in 3 games, the 1st, 2nd and 5th, thanks to the survival skills of Rad Pinnock, who lasted the full 2 minutes in two of the games.
The final match was a much tighter affair. Jammy Dodgers and Retail Assassins fought out a tight battle that saw the lead change 3 times over the 7 games. Jammy Dodgers ran out 4-3 winners, with both teams finishing with 10 game points.
We had a great time and it was good to see Paul Marriott back to full fitness and playing all 14 games over the 2 matches.

10th May 2006
Some teams postponed their games for the first week’s matches.. Due to this Retail Assassins played 2 friendly matches against Hit and Run on the first evening of the Kettering League. The matches were played in the league format of 7 x 2-minute games.
The first match saw us beaten 2-4 in a closely fought contest. Hit and Run had a large squad of 11 players, 9 male and 2 female, while we were struggling to get a full team, due to work commitments, and fielded just 5 players (this was allowed as it was a pre-season friendly), 2 male and 3 female . This resulted in our players tiring noticeably as the match wore on.
The return match had 2 of Hit and Run’s male players switch sides to even up the numbers and an exact reversal of the first result saw Retail Assassins win 4-2.
